Kakee Lau

I’m graduate on Game design & Graphics at Gotland University. My main focus and specialization is in-game animations with motion capture. My primary programs that I use is 3ds max, cortex motion analysis and motionbuilder.

At the beginning I didn’t know what I wanted to focus on. I could either chose between 2D-art or 3D-modelling, but none of them really stuck to me. Until I went on my third year they introduced 3D IV Advance animations – with motion capture. There I found my cue, the thing I want to work on for the future. My only experience with animations was thru keyframe animations from my previous team project. Since I didn’t have any previous experience working on motionbuilder or motion capture, the learning curve was very steep. But for me whom have passion for animations, I took my time, and lots of late night to learn the editing in motionbuilder.

Thanks to that, now I got a full understanding of animations pipeline. From planing the motions, work with the actor, mark the actor, work as director and mo-cap operator, record in the mo-cap studio, clean the data, edit the animations in motionbuilder and the finally into a game engine. I even based my bachelor thesis of it.

I am still fresh, new, when it comes to gaming industry, but I compensate it with social skills, hard work and the burning passion for videogame animations, especially for in-game animations. I want too continue to work and learn more of motionbuilder and motion capture. My future vision is to be either senior or lead animator.

On my freetime I play airsoft games with my buddies.
